Operate at Templestowe Day Surgery
We welcome credentialing applications from surgeons and medical practitioners who perform procedures within our scope: local and tumescent anaesthesia, with or without intramuscular sedation.
Scope of practice
Procedures we credential for
We consider applications to perform the following procedures, all under local anaesthesia with or without intramuscular sedation. We don’t provide general anaesthesia.
Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction, performed in line with the Department of Health Victoria’s Guideline for providers of liposuction, including dose and aspirate limits.
Blepharoplasty
Upper and lower eyelid surgery, performed in line with Victoria’s regulation of minor surgery in private facilities.
Gynaecomastia
Surgical management of gynaecomastia within the limits of local and tumescent anaesthesia.
Skin procedures
Excision of skin lesions, including skin cancers, and other skin procedures under local anaesthetic.

Credentialing
How to apply
Credentialing follows Safer Care Victoria’s policy on credentialing and scope of clinical practice for senior medical practitioners. To apply, contact our office for a credentialing application form and provide:
- Proof of identity and national (and, if applicable, international) police checks
- Original or certified copies of your medical, specialist and procedural qualifications
- Current AHPRA registration
- Current professional indemnity insurance that reflects the scope of practice applied for
- Your current CV and evidence of continuing professional development
- Two professional referees relevant to the scope of practice applied for
Applications are reviewed by our Medical Advisory Committee, and you’ll be notified of the outcome in writing. Accreditation is granted for up to three years.

What we expect
Consent and financial consent
Obtain valid, documented informed consent and informed financial consent before admission. Patients are given a seven-day cooling-off period.
Patient selection and safety
Follow our patient selection policy and exclusion criteria, and report adverse events and post-operative infections to the Medical Director within 24 hours.
Quality and partnership
Take part in peer review, open disclosure and our quality program, and involve patients and carers in decisions about their care.
